My CD "Signpost"!
Yep, it's done! At last!
I have beautiful, pristine, shrink-wrapped copies in my hands now.
If you want a copy, please use the "Contact" form and let me know, and I'll work to get it into your hands ASAP!
An important project I want your help on, organ donation:
I have a good friend, Tim, who has a serious liver issue (very long story which I won't get into), and things look like the only solution is a new liver. Science has yet to grow an artificial liver.
So, The best thing we all can do to help him is to make sure we're set up / signed up for organ donation in the event something bad happens to us. Don't forget that something could happen to you or I, and we'd be in the same boat. Realistically, the statistics are such that if we just got more folks to commit to being donors, we wouldn't have 100,000 folks waiting on an organ; we'd have organs immediately available to those in need. See the official US Government site about organ donation for more info.
My health project, starting Nov 2010, on-going (updated to 11/11)
I.......... have........ Kidney Cancer.
yup. ............ no s**t.
Actually, you'll be interested to know that up until I started finding out what the problem was, I didn't think there was anything wrong. No serious pain, no nothing. This isn't like the movies, where it's clear Our Hero is demonstrably in agony; nope, I got nothin' in the agony department.
I didn't even know at first it was cancer.
The opening bell. Roll the title credits.
Just before the start of November 2010, I went to the bathroom, and there was red blood in my urine. That certainly got my attention! although nothing hurt. The next time I went, I was cringing, but all was OK and back to normal. Nothing hurts. Hmmm. Next time, no problems or pain.
(Fast-forwarding...)
I was to find out I have "Clear Cell Renal Carcinoma", which is medicalese for the most common form of kidney cancer. Since then, I've been through a variety of "adventures", and am currently getting anti-cancer medications that appear (by all methods of measurement, as of November, 2011) to be holding the cancer back (although not without some negative side-effects).
Among other projects, I am working on turning my experiences into a book, which, when completed, will be available in electronic format.
As always - feel free to contact me via my contact form on this site, or by email or by cell phone if we've already communicated.
